Merry Christmas ✌️

I’m stuck in this spot since my cat-unit appears to broken.  Aren’t these supposed to hiss at you from the corner? It appears cold.  Christmas went pretty well. I got to work from home on Christmas Eve, and so Ro got to stay home with me.  I managed to get everything done in a few hours while Ro was watching Transformers on Netflix.  When I ran out of stuff to do, we started watching Olive the Other Reindeer on YouTube.  It’s a made-for-tv show by the creator of the Simpsons and was probably our favorite Christmas movie of the day.  Later, we had pizza on B’s grandpa’s front porch with B’s mom. Yes, it was cold. Ro decided he wasn’t hungry and spent most of the time moping since B’s mom brought out the wrapped presents but wouldn’t let him open them until after everyone was done eating. Then B’s grandpa brought out the presents from B’s aunt, too. Ro got a Launch and Defend remote control Batmobile, Lego set, and Batman lunchbox. B got a Bob Ross Chri...

December Update -- Glad this Day/Week/Month/Year is Over

Hi, there!  I didn't realize there was a comment since I hadn't checked this since I wrote that last post.  There will be often when something good or bad happens and I think of writing a post but rarely get around to it.  Maybe more frequent writing means more errors.  I'm just going to make sure this one gets posted so it'll probably be disjointed. The Sheriff's Office stuff was a mistranslated.  I've been working on taking my Agricultural Commissioner deputy exam lately.  I took only oral exam December 2019, this last July and another in November and failed all three.  I happened to schedule a Girl's Video Chat night when I found out my result this last Wednesday.  They were amused at my alcoholic coping skills -- don't worry, it was only one beer and one wine since my biology doesn't allow me to partake in any more than that.  I was really disappointed after this last one because I really thought I had it.  I have two more chan...

Virus Spider Ecology

Ro has an imaginary friend named Spidey who is a virus spider.  Well, actually, Spidey isn't imaginary. He's just as small as a virus, and so no one can actually see him.  He has two million brothers.  He doesn’t have sisters, but he has cousins that are girls. Virus spiders are born from an egg sac that actually is inside of the mother's body.  When Spidey and all of his brothers were born, their parents died to give all of their offspring their virus spider powers.  Spidey's dad owned a dojo that Ro trains at sometimes and Spidey took over the dojo when his dad died. Virus spider can move through people's bodies and eat all of the bad viruses and bacteria that make people sick.  They also eat trash and scraps of paper.  They are very civilized and prefer to eat on top of the package savers people get when they order pizzas in to go boxes. Virus spiders seem to be able to travel anywhere you need them in an instant.  Ro says that Spidey's family ...

Status Quo

I'm starting to realize I'm inclined to start each post with it's been awhile since the last post.  It's mainly because each time I get time to just sit, I've been knitting or trying to study for my deputy exam at the end of this month.  On the brighter sign, I can make lacy designs now with yarn overs. I failed my deputy exam at the end of last month.  I definitely knew a lot more than I did when I last attempted it in July 2019.  Usually the exam is done in front of a panel of three people.  This time, it was a phone call.  At one point, I froze while answering and the panel started to worry there was something wrong with the phone.  Luckily it was just me.  I caught up with a friend who was actually taking his exam at the exact same time and one person on his panel actually had the call dropped so he had to start completely over.  The exam is timed, and so you can guess how scary that might be.  I'll be much more ready (and third tim...

Well, the washer broke.

We had been getting the error E2F3 on our GE Whirlpool Duet washer. I had looked it up before and saw that it was a simple fix—the wire to the temperature sensor must have gotten pinched with the rattling from the washer until it started to snap.  So, I kept putting off fixing it a bit longer. If you remember, the dryer is stacked on top of the washer. In order to get to the back of the washer to fix anything, the dryer has to be taken down, and the washer needs to be pulled out of the closet.  Everything was fine for a very long time — maybe four years. If the washer stopped and showed the error, we could restart the machine, and it would continue on as if nothing happened. Stacked dryer over the washer Finally, last night, I realized that all four pairs of my jeans were in the dirty clothes basket and I wouldn’t have anything to wear today (Monday) for work. I figured, ok, I’ll was all of my jeans, a pair of B’s jeans, and three pairs of Ro’s jeans.  Well, the was...

May Update

Nothing much has really happened since the last post. We celebrated B’s birthday with takeout from Annex Kitchen complete with cocktails. Ro is getting stir crazy with the time passing by and I think he’s forgetting why it’s important to wash hand, not touch objects outside, etc. He’s also forgetting a lot of his Spanish since he isn’t able to practice it much. I’m feeling pretty scattered this Saturday, but happy to relax since it isn’t a shopping day. I’ve managed to get things to where I only need to do major shopping trips every other weekend. Easter was nicely low key. We forgot to dye the eggs for the Easter Bunny to hide, but we had a bunch of apples, and so he hid those around the house for Ro to find instead. Awhile ago, the Easter Bunny delivered a package of books and a few small toys from a local bookstore that turned out great. I have a feeling the Easter Bunny may have found a new traditions of books instead of a lot of toys and candies. Work is okay. I was tran...

March Update

I know it’s been awhile. Things have been crazy here in terms of trying to keep up with getting ahead of this virus. All of Ro’s favorite science podcasts have PSAs about proper hand washing. Even B’s grandpa was finally convinced that things are not normal or safe for him. I’ve been hesitating on keeping up this blog because it felt like I needed to have ideas and pictures or make my posts more full. Honestly, I really want to have a two-way conversation to make sure everything is okay with the people I care about. I’ve been waiting for the all clear and I don’t think it’ll ever happen. Each time I think about calling, I start to cry. It’s not being sensitive. It’s feeling alone. A lot of things changed after I had Ro. I started to be more afraid of driving in the dark or walking alone on a street. But even more so now, there are very few people I feel like I can trust to not leave.  I’ve gotten so tired of being blindesided that it’s hard to fight back.  That’s probably ...
