Quick August Update

I know it’s been awhile.  Ro started school and going back to daycare this week. He came come yesterday with the sniffles, had a rough night sleeping, and then woke up this morning with a fever. B and Ro took tests this morning to make sure it isn’t something to quarantine, and I have a test scheduled for tomorrow. Both B and I stayed home and have been pretty much in quarantine just in case. We probably won’t be going back to work until Tuesday. Ro is okay so far. He had one fever that went to 102 but went down quickly with Tylenol.  At least it happened on a Friday and hopefully we’ll be back in business on Monday.  I love you and miss you.

Vacation -- Day 2

We woke up at a reasonable hour the next morning and decided to head to the Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park section of the Redwood National Park.  It was beautiful to drive into.   By Smith River We started off with breakfast at Hiouchi Cafe.  It looks like a simple Denny's or Chubby's type diner from the outside.  The portions are similar to those chains and the menu is similar, but the quality was really good.  It was super busy.  We had to wait for seats, and we still got there before an even bigger rush.   After breakfast, we dropped into the Hiouchi Visitor's Center to get an idea of where the best quick hike would be and to buy some souvenirs.  Ro wanted to buy a bunch of different books because the covers were really pretty.  I tried to explain that they were books that we could either get from the library or there was no way he could talk me into reading a field guide on snakes from cover to cover.  I think we have enough other nature guides (flowers, birds, mam

Vacation— Day 1

Originally, we were going to go straight to Mom’s house.  We found out that she had anticipated us in June and already arranged for another friend to stay with them from July 2-16. We had already claimed time for vacation from July 6-18. 🤷‍♀️ So, we decided to make a much slower family trip and just spend few of the last days at Mom’s on an air mattress instead.  We left around 7am on July 6th with a Starbucks breakfast. I tried to suggest to B that we could leave on the 5th after Ro’s Grandma Wanda’s 60th birthday on the 4th. B thought it would be a good idea to slowly pack since we picked up the rental around noon and we still needed to make sure the bikes would fit. We rented a really nice 2021 Nissan Rogue. I wish I had taken pictures of how we packed it.  We were able to fit Ro’s carseat in the middle with on seat folded down to accommodate my cargo bike upside down and B’s bike right-side up with all the tires taken off. We fit the luggage (B’s backpacking pack, my roller-board
